What is Optical Bonding?

Some factors can affect displays’ readability. The most common reason is “fog”, or "condensation". Another factor is the reflection of sunlight. Both issues can be resolved by using optical bonding.

Optical bonding is implemented by either liquid or sheet form OCA. Optical bonding is the process that touch panel and LCD panel together with optical clear adhesives. Optical Bonding uses liquid gel to laminate/affix the cover glass or touchscreen on the front of the LCD panel. It eliminates air gap between the touch panel and the display.

In addition, optical bonding significantly reduces internal reflections, contributes to the brightness and contrast of the display, enhances the robustness of the system, and strengthens resistance to shock and vibration.
